Big Barns Cottage is a cosy semi-detached cottage, originating in the mid-1700’s. It is a Grade B listed building which was converted in 1859 to a terrace of estate workers’cottages under the direction of the London-based “Arts & Crafts” architect George Devey. Big Barns has an idyllic elevated location on the edge of the Dunrobin wood overlooking the Dornoch Firth in east Sutherland. This part of Scotland boasts having the most sun hours and least rain ..... and is relatively midge-free! The garden, which faces South - South/West, is well stocked with flowers, shrubs and specimen trees; it is very secluded so there is ample opportunity to sit outside and enjoy the ever changing, breathtaking views. The interior has recently been renovated and the cosy atmosphere which has been established is emphasised by the antique furniture and contemporary art. There is a Bang & Olufsen CD player, a B&O television and B&O loudspeakers, an enormous Persian rug and comfortable furniture: Big Barns Cottage is big on character and big on charm! Within a short driving distance there are several renowned 18 hole golfcourses – to name a few: Brora, Royal Dornoch, Golspie and Tain. Food lovers can enjoy a sublime 3 or 4 course dinner, based on local and seasonal delicacies! For bookings please go to: www.scottish-country-cottages.co.uk ref. SPPG |
